Busy Like the Help – This was the only out take from the Space Programs record. It just didn’t fit the concept of the album. We ended up finishing it (with Max Hodes mixing) for a vinyl comp from the Dalston Lane folks in London. I don’t think it’s ever come out.

Bulgarian – This is a Bulgarian folk song that we covered for a while. We ended up recording it with Malabaster Will in Brooklyn for a split 7” that never came out.

Geronimo and Dimension Dementia were released as a vinyl only 7” picture disc by Lovepump Records. It’s out of print and has never been available in any digital format before. These songs were written during the time we worked on Sunset. We recorded this at the Werehouse with a bunch of Winston Salem helping out.

Mystery Writer – This song we did mostly in one day in 2010 after we broke up. Tom got asked to make a theme song for some friends’ TV show. They asked him to do it in a 60’s elevator style. Tom ignored them and we made this. I don’t think the show has happened yet. This song was recorded and mixed by Max Hodes and features him on vocals and bass. If the Usaisamonster were a band today Max would be in it.

Jamil Abdul Kebab and Hillbilly were originally released on Joshua Tree which was a demo cdr we made before Tasheyana Compost. We ended up scrapping these 2 songs. Jamil Abdul Kebab was named after the engineer of this record our good friend Kamil Kruba. Tom thought the song was too much of a rip off of High on Fire. It tore it up live though. I think we decided Hillbilly was too rock and roll for where our music was heading. I gave it to a vinyl comp out of Ohio and never heard nothing from them but found it for sale on Ebay recently.

Music and War – Zak Fat asked us for a one minute song for a 7’ comp. The comp never happened. We wrote and recorded this song in the winter of 2002 while we were living in Portland Oregon. Luckily Zak still had a copy of this cause our computer crashed and this song was gone!

Neon Hunk Split – We got asked to do a split 7” on a South Carolina label in 2000. The record never happened but through it we became life long friends with Neon Hunk. After it became clear this record wasn’t gonna happen we offered it to a couple other labels who rejected it. AxTx plays some noise and sax on this recording.

Your Life is Worthwhile – The instrumental was an outtake from Tasheyana Compost, I think. We played it for a while. I liked it a lot but Tommy then told me it was, like, exactly a Lightning Bolt beat, so we dropped it. Luckily we had done a pretty decent recording of it so a couple years later when we got asked to be on the Unicorn Mountain comp from Pittsburg I got inspired and wrote these sick raps. I had to buy this off of Amazon to get it for this comp.

The Lord is a White Man and New Black Creation originally appeared on the 7 cdr which was a demo for our first LP Citizens. We ended up not rerecording them for the record. I figure we didn’t use The Lord is a White Man cause it didn’t fit or something.
Maybe I didn’t like the lyrics. I like the song now. New Black Creation was the first song we wrote for the duo version of the band. Devil Music ended up reworking and recording it.

Okeepa Ceremony Acoustic – This appeared on a double CD comp on Cardboard Records. It has never been available for download before.

No More Forever (video version) – This version of the song has never been available before as an audio only download. It appeared in our awesome video that Peter Glantz and Kevin Hooyman made and was also released on a one sided 10’ picture disc vinyl on Holidays Records in Italy.

I think that’s it. I think I got everything. I had to rescue some of these tunes from the abyss. That’s primarily why I made this comp – to save these songs from extinction. I think I got them all. I don’t think there’s any left. The only projects I have left for this band are a live album and a live dvd, and maybe a reenactment movie with actors playing us. – Colin Langenus
